Boo, who?

Hello, my name is Boo.

I am a writer who also draws. I am currently working on several creative projects, including (1) THE SECOND LIFE OF RUELLE MORE, a children’s fantasy novel, which my agent and I are working to send out on submissions very soon, (2) an independent webcomic, GRAVEDIGGER, featuring the same characters in a parallel-world storyline, and (3) a YA project I’ve taken up recently (and very seriously!), THREAT LEVEL: NAOKI, a coming-of-age neuro-divergent novel set in present-day Japan!

I studied Fashion Design at the Accademia Italiana before going on to read English with Creative Writing at Keele. I’ve recently been accepted to UEA with a scholarship for the MA Creative Writing (Prose Fiction), as well as a place at Bath Spa on the MA Writing for Young People programme. Decisions, decisions!

On the academic side of things, I’m writing my dissertation project on Ethnic Representation in Contemporary Children’s Literature where I champion BAME fiction and authors to ultimately answer the question: what constitutes good practice in the writing of diverse characters? My other academic interests include World Literature, Genre Studies, and South-East Asian Studies.

Before moving to the UK, I always visit the Buddhist temple near my house to give offerings to the monks on my birthdays. I also volunteer at the children’s home and the juvenile centre. I’d like to be able to do that again. So if you know where this is possible in the UK, please let me know. Thanks!
